This three story brick building was the main mill building at Glencoe. In 1950, a large addition was added to the front. With its traditional mill styling and construction, this building is the jewel of the complex. The windows provide views of the Haw River, and wood floors and columns add to the character of the space. This space can be subdivided.

The first floor was used for weaving and loom storage. The second floor was used for spinning and weaving, and the third floor was used for carding and wrapping.
When the Mill was first built, the main approach was from the North. This end of the building features more decorative work than the south side of the building.
The south end of the building is still more decorative than the back side.
Glencoe Mill was built on the Haw River to take advantage of the flowing water. A channel, or race, was dug, and directed into the Mill's Hydro Plant which is attached to the North end of the Main Mill.
The brick and heavy timber construction made it possible for large equipment to be installed on all three floors. Initially used for carding and wrapping, later this floor was used for drawing-in, slubbbers, speeders, and tieing-in.
Glencoe Mill produced plaid flannel textiles. This is an example of a company lable.
The company started construction on a large addition to the Main Mill in the late 1940s.
The addition substantially changed the exterior of the Main Mill, obscuring the ground and first floors.
The addition mimicked some of the architectural detail used in the construction of the original Main Mill.
