Square Footage: LEASED
The Cotton Sheds are board and batten buildings separated by brick walls. They were originally used for storing cotton, and the brick walls were a fire prevention measure.
These small sheds were in rough shape before we started work.
They were full of junk, the wood siding was rotten, adn the foundations were crumbling.
The last shed was in the worst shape of all. The walls were supported by a few rocks.
We've repaired and renovated the Cotton Sheds. The middle shed is an artist studio, and the outside shed is a conference room.
We used materials salvaged from the site to make the space more interesting. The artist studio walls are clad in wood boards salvaged from the Machine Shop, and the some walls are clad in metal sheeting salavaged from the back of the Cotton Sheds.
The metal sheeting acquired a rich and colorful patina over the years. The artist agreed that it would add an interesting color and texture to her space.
This is the last shed, and it is now a conference room. The brick wall is exposed, and the old sliding door remains in the space.
The original door remains in the space, but is now inoperable.
